I find it especially fascinating when I easily solve a problem simply by writing down the problem statement and then the first few possible solutions I can think of. I could spend days thinking of such a problem and getting nowhere, but as soon as I write it down - it really is magic! - the problem doesn't seem to be so complex anymore. I haven’t heard the “writing is magic” saying before, but I totally agree. I find it especially fascinating when I easily solve a problem simply by writing down the problem statement and then the first few possible solutions I can think of.

I could spend days thinking of such a problem and getting nowhere, but as soon as I write it down – it really is magic! – the problem doesn’t seem to be so complex anymore.

It makes a world of difference. You are right in the sense that goals have a connotation of being too far out there. When it's viewed as an outcome, you don't necessarily stress because you know it's going to happen. I find that writing things down can help clarify what you really want to do.
