What Blogs Do You Read?

July 7, 2006 by Gleb Reys

Welcome back!

What blogs do you read?

I usually add 2-3 blogs a week to my RSS aggregator, and while this gives me enough information, I’m still not getting enough knowledge on personal development.

I do read books, but sometimes it’s much easier to learn a useful lesson from a friend who had obtained the skill by trial and error.

So today I’d like to ask all of you readers of my blog to please take 1 minute of your precious time and share the most useful few links to blogs or websites you have found useful and interesting.

If you feel comfortable to leave a comment, please do so! Otherwise, there is always a Contact Me page.

Thanks a lot in advance everyone, and have a good weekend!

    dirtsimple.org

Most sites, if not all, I think, are not leading to personal development. They’re about doing more things in a less time or making more money. Frankly these goals aren’t true personal development. But their methods can be useful anyway, I’d just prefer to call them some other way…

    Thanks for the link, Eugene!

How would you call such sites then? I’m just curious…

My point of view is very much along the lines of the wikipedia definition:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Personal_development

The definition lists areas covered by personal development, and I presume it’s easy to add even more to the list.

Simply put, developing yourself is personally unique for every one of us. We may share some principles and follow common guidelines, but we’ll still be very different in our expectations and ways to meet them in self-growth.

Thanks again for the link! I’ve seen it before (I think you gave it to me a while ago), but it was since lost – so I’m gonna read it again and probably add to my RSS reader.

    Hi,

I read steve pavlina, office zealot (http://www.officezealot.com/), MarkTAW (http://www.marktaw.com/), Personal Productivity Blog (http://www.allbusiness.com/blog/PersonalProductivity/2975282/) and a whole host of Getting Things Done (GTD) blogs. I also make it a point to read slow leadership!

Well, this is too complex matter for me and my poor English skills. But while the goals set in the Wikipedia article you’ve mentioned are good, achieveing them can’t be called true personal development.

There’s something more about it which is hard if not impossible to define from a rational standpoint. Like a difference between good and bad picture, or good/bad book, etc.. You can see it but cannot really explain it rationally. That’s why it so hard to talk about it. :)

Thanks for sharing with me, Mohit!

I’ve recently finished reading the GTD book by David Allen, so I guess I’ll be asking more GTD-related questions later on!

    Hey John,

I think I understand what you’re saying, and I can’t say I’m 100% sure about everything in that wikipedia article neither, but yes, I do like the list it has :)

Who knows, maybe we’ll come up with better answers as we learn more?

    Talk to you later!

I read StevePavlina.com regularly and sometimes he has been right on the money. Personal development works for me when I can incorporate the mental, physical, spiritual and emotional components of my life into a unified whole.

This is what I write about on my blog. It really helps me to keep that focus.
