Welcome back!

Hi everyone, and welcome to the October 1, 2006 edition of the Personal Development Carnival!

I’d like to use this opportunity and thank Lyman Reed for starting this carnival and also allowing me host this edition on my blog today. I’ve watched this carnival closely since the very beginning, and it really pleases me to see it grow so quickly in the recent months.

Here are all the entries for this week. Please remember that only 1 article for each author is included in any given edition, and so you may not find all the articles you have submitted recently. If you don’t want us to make the decision and pick the best article for you – please don’t send in more than one article at a time.

Saturday Links – 30/09/2006

September 30, 2006 by Gleb Reys · Leave a Comment

I’ve been on a training for the whole week, and therefore didn’t have time to post anything knew. But I couldn’t stop reading my feeds, and that’s how I discovered the following two articles which I think you’ll find interesting too.

Mike explains How To Write Goal Statements That Work and introduces you to prophetic journaling:

The greatest thing will begin happening when you write your goals down in a Prophetic Journal, you’ll actually begin to see the incongruency in what you are saying to yourself everyday and the current life you’re living. Pretty soon, you’ll begin to feel like you want to make changes. The important thing is to DO IT!

I dare you to write your statement, read it for 40 days and nights, and see what happens. I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised at the results.

Another great article on goal setting: How to set achievable goals by Buster McLeod. I really liked some of his thoughts, like this one:

Making achievable goals shouldn’t feel like buying art. Reviewing your list of goals should feel more like learning to paint with your hands than walking through a gallery of masterpieces. You should be constantly editing, rewording, removing, and adding goals from your list. Building momentum and confidence is the secret to making achievable goals.

Saturday Links – 23/09/2006

September 23, 2006 by Gleb Reys · 4 Comments

Starting today, I will be sharing with you some of the best links of the week I have come across. I’m subscribed to quite a number of blogs, and this makes sure there is at least a few really interesting articles you will find useful.

Here are the links I really liked this week:

1. Scott H Young has a great article called The Confidence Myth, where he explains why self-confidence isn’t crucial to your success:

The confidence myth is simply that self-confidence is an incredibly critical ingredient to success. That is, the belief in your own success, is necessary to harness and in some cases outweighs other attributes such as skill, experience or talent. So much self-help has been spun about the necessity of confidence, that I think it is finally time to put it to rest. You don’t want or need self-confidence.

While I don’t wholly share his opinion, I really like the article because Scott goes into great details explaining various ways of (re)gaining your confidence.

2. Brian Kim reveals The Secret to Creating Lasting Change, explaining how you can change anything by forming a positive self image:

Your self image dictates your every action and is pretty much responsible for everything in your life right now. It is essentially how you view yourself mentally, which then manifests itself on the outside. Your every action is based on that self image.

3. Matt explains How To Keep Your Relationship Healthy With Your Wife:

Women need to be loved through thick and thin.
Women need to be surprised and pampered.
Your wife needs to feel secure.
You wife may just want to have fun.
Help your wife with the household chores.

Keys To Success Are Everywhere

September 21, 2006 by Gleb Reys · 4 Comments

Saw this phrase somewhere today, and thought I would share it. Just think about these words for a minute: keys to success are everywhere.

Indeed they are! Our life holds many discoveries and adventures, yet they only come to those who believe in them and never stop searching for more.

I like the positive determination of this idea: it is entirely up to you to decide how successful you will be one day, and there are always limitless opportunities waiting for you.

Does anyone know any more successful affirmations? Please share, every little helps!
